What We Do
First, what we do is build custom homes one at a time using our experience and that of our subs to provide the best construction at a fair price. Our homes vary from a very small and inexpensive 1,300 sf ranch home to a high-end 9,000 sf Tuscan-style Villa. Our specialty is to work closely with our clients so that the home and the construction experience suits their needs. Some clients want to participate in the work, some clients want to try new products or construction methods, and some clients just want a builder they can trust to create their dream home. We happily do all of the above, tailoring the construction experience to their needs.
Second, we do all the things that builders normally do:
- Additions
- Remodeling
- Steel roofs
- Basement finishing
- Decks
- Windows & Siding
- Commercial remodeling and construction
This is often the meat and potatoes of our work. We give it our full attention, maintain our standard of quality, and price it competitively.
Third, we love to do the very challenging projects. These include:
- A new deck hanging on an old structure with no visible support
- A 9,000 sf Tuscan-Villa home
- Green construction with exacting craftsmanship
- A Pavillion on a lake shore with a copper roof and structural steel exo-skeleton
- A river deck built on the side of a steep bank.
- An extreme energy-efficient concept house
Energy Efficiency
As energy costs have soared, we have become very engaged in energy tight construction. We have built three structures with SIPs and two with ICFs. We can build a home so efficient that it can almost be heated by just living in it.
Environmental Impact (Greenness)
My first “green” house was my own home, which was built with a very high percentage of recycled materials 32 years ago. It is passive solar and at the time was considered very energy-efficient.
With the construction of Kickapoo Dwelling, we became very intent on the environmental impact of our material choices. It has changed the way we look at the processes and materials used in our projects. All of our homes are greener than before. We will take that greenness to whatever level the clients wish.
